Special concert ‘BASIL POLEDOURIS – The Music & The Movies’ in Los Angeles
On July 22, 2022, the Walt Disney Concert Hall will hold the debut of the Los Angeles Film Orchestra to celebrate the life and legacy of composer, Basil Poledouris, along with the 40th Anniversary of the motion picture Conan: The Barbarian.
Basil Poledouris was one of film music’s most beloved figures over the 35 years of his brilliant career. During the 1980s and 90s he composed some of the greatest scores of the period, including some genuine classics that will endure for decades, or maybe centuries! Tragically, we lost Basil in 2006, when he was only 61 years old.
This concert is a truly spectacular celebration of this remarkable composer and his work, where together with a group of special guests who were friends, colleagues, and collaborators of Basil’s, will perform a program of his music unlike any that has ever been presented.
Basil Poledouris composed the breathtaking scores for Conan: The Barbarian, The Blue Lagoon, RoboCop, The Hunt for Red October, Starship Troopers, Lonesome Dove, Free Willy, Iron Eagle, and so many more, which will be part of the concert.
Maestro Steven Allen Fox and the Los Angeles Film Orchestra will be joined by special guest conductors and the SoCal Chorale, led by Choir Maestra Marya Basaraba, in this special tribute to the great Basil Poledouris, produced and hosted by Robert Townson, a longtime friend who worked with Basil on twenty of his albums.
