The Oulu Music Festival, which is celebrated from 10.-24.3.2019 in Oulu (Finland), has several events related to video games music, which you can find below:

 

Concerts ‘Music from FINAL FANTASY and more: SYMPHONIC MEMORIES’

On Thursday 14th at 10h & 13h and on Friday 15th at 19h, the video game music concert ‘Music from FINAL FANTASY and more: SYMPHONIC MEMORIES’ will be held at the Madetojan Hall – Oulun Musiikkikeskus, performed by the Oulu Symphony Orchestra conducted by Jaakko Kuusisto, bringing the timeless melodies of SQUARE ENIX’s legendary role-playing games, from the award-winning Final Symphony and Symphonic Fantasies concerts.

  • Yoko Shimomura (1967-): FINAL FANTASY XV – arr. Jonne Valtonen

  • Nobuo Uematsu (1959-): FINAL FANTASY VII – II Words Drowned by Fireworks – arr. Jonne Valtonen
  • Yasunori Mitsuda (1972-): CHRONO TRIGGER / CHRONO CROSS – arr. Roger Wanamo

GAME AUDIO AWARDS 2019

The 5th edition of the international Game Audio Awards will be celebrated during the festival at the Hotel Lasaretti, where the prizes for best game music and best game audio design of 2018 will be awarded. In addition, honorary awards will be given to exceptionally successful productions.

The best game music and best audio design series accepted nominations from amongst game soundtracks and effects published during 2018. The jury chooses winners at the beginning of 2019 and they are announced at the gala.

Oulu Music Festival 2019 - Game Audio Awards

 

GAME MUSIC COLLECTIVE BAND

On Friday 15th at 21h, the Game Music Collective band will perform a video game music concert at the Uusi Seuarahuone. The band is composed by Saku Mattila (EWI), Panu Rauhala (synthesizers), Ossi Maristo (guitar), Tarmo Anttila (bass) and Anssi Tirkkonen (drums).

During the concert, the audience will hear music from both old classics such as Mega Man, Monkey Island, and Final Fantasy game series, together with new games such as Assassin’s Creed, Fortnite, and Red Dead Redemption 2.
