FIMUCITÉ 13 – Dates and first concerts announced

Today, Tuesday, December 18th, FIMUCITÉ (Tenerife International Film Music Festival) has announced at a press conference the first details of its 13th edition, to be held in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain) from Friday, September 20th to Sunday, September 29th, 2019.

 

This new edition, entitled Fimucité the 13th in a clear nod to the famous horror saga Friday the 13th, will pay tribute to great horror classic films and will feature Harry Manfredini and Christopher Young as guest composers.

In today’s presentation, the first 3 concerts of the festival have been announced:

  • On Friday, September 27th at 20h, the Auditorium of Tenerife will host the concert “My Favorite Fears” performed by the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra and the Tenerife Film Choir under the baton of Christian Schumann. The program will include film music of major horror films such as ‘Friday the 13th (Harry Manfredini)’, ‘Hellraiser (Christopher Young)’, or ‘Rosemary’s Baby (Krzysztof Komeda)’.

FIMUCITÉ 13 - My favorite terrors

 

  • On Saturday, September 28th at 19h, the official “Closing Gala Ceremony” of the festival will be held at the Auditorium of Tenerife, with the live-to-picture performance of the soundtrack composed by Wojciech Kilar for ‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’ (directed by Francis Ford Coppola), which will be performed by the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra and the Tenerife Film Choir, conducted by the composer and festival’s director Diego Navarro.

This show has been organized in co-production with the Krakow Film Music Festival – Krakow FMF, being the first time that the two film music festivals come together for the joint creation of an event of such magnitude, in coordination with Sony Pictures, and with the renowned record producer Robert Townson.

FIMUCITÉ 13 - Bram Stoker’s Dracula

 

  • On Sunday, September 29th at 19h, the concert entitled “Champions of the Silver Screen” will be performed at the Auditorium of Tenerife by the Youth Symphony Orchestra of FIMUCITÉ, composed by students from the Professional Music Conservatory of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and of the Conservatory of Music of the Canary Islands. This concert will be dedicated to the sports-themed movies, with a repertoire that will include the best soundtracks of the genre such as ‘Chariots of Fire (Vangelis)’, ‘Rocky (Bill Conti)’, ‘Rudy (Jerry Goldsmith)’ or ‘Hoosiers (Jerry Goldsmith)’ among others.

FIMUCITÉ 13 - Entradas

 

Note that, as in previous editions, the 7th edition of the FIMUCINEMA competitive section will be launched within the Festival, which will shortly open the call for entries, and also a new edition of the FIMUCITÉ Film Scoring Academy will be celebrated there; a free educational activity aimed at students and professionals, interested in specialized training at the hands of experienced professionals in the sector.

As in previous occasions, the festival will be sponsored by the Tenerife Island Council, the Canary Islands Government, and the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council among other entities.
