Christmas concerts in Tarragona (Spain) – LSQ & Howard Blake

The Liverpool String Quartet (LSQ) will give two Christmas concerts on 6 and 7 January 2017 in the province of Tarragona (Catalonia – Spain), in the cities of Maspujols and Castellvell del Camp respectively, with the presence of composer Howard Blake.

 

With Jim Clark (Violin), Sarah Hill (Violin), Daniel Sanxis (Viola) and Alex Holladay (Cello), the Liverpool String Quartet (LSQ) will feature pianist Martin Roscoe and soprano Ana Puche as guest artists, as well as actor Jaume Comas as narrator.

In addition, British composer Howard Blake will attend the concerts, who was nominated to the Oscars for his music for the short animation film The Snowman (1982), 26 minutes long, that will be interpreted in both functions.

 

The planned program will contain classical music, film music and Christmas music, and will last approximately 2 hours (intermission included), with the following pieces:

FIRST PART

Howard Blake – A Month in the Country

Cesar Franck  – Piano Quintet in F Minor

SECOND PART

Miklos Rózsa – Two songs for Soprano and Piano

Soprano: Ana Puche – Piano: Martin Roscoe

Miklos Rózsa – Valse Crepuculaire (from the film “Providence”)

Tradicional Catalana – El Cant dels Ocells (The Song of the Birds)

Irving Berlin – White Christmas

Howard Blake – The Snowman (full length) for String Quartet

  • Saturday 1/7/2017 – 8:30 pm – San Vicenç Màrtir Church (Castellvell del Camp – Tarragona) – Tickets 7€

 

These concerts are produced by Ars Aurea Sonora in collaboration with the Town Hall of Castellvell del Camp and Liverpool String Quartet.
