The World Soundtrack Awards (Oct 15-17, 2024), announced yesterday that Maggie Rodford will receive the 2024 WSA Industry Award at the 24th edition, to be celebrated in Ghent in October.

Film Fest Gent is proud to announce that the 2024 WSA Industry Award goes to Maggie Rodford, who receives the award in recognition of her remarkable contributions to the film music industry. With her expertise in composer and artist representation, music production, music supervision and business, she solidifies her position as a pivotal figure in the field.

 

Maggie Rodford will be present in Ghent to receive her award during the WSA Nominees Celebration, which takes place the day before the World Soundtrack Ceremony (16 October 2024). This gathering brings together the industry to celebrate the WSA Nominees and to recognize the winner of the WSA Industry Award.

 

The Industry Award is presented to an individual or organization that makes a notable and significant contribution to the film music industry. Film music producer Robert Townson received the WSA Industry Award in 2023, following the Alliance for Women Film Composers in 2022.

 

Maggie Rodford

Maggie Rodford is Managing Director of the Air-Edel Group, one of the world’s leading music agencies, music publishing, music supervision and production companies. Maggie studied music, playing piano and cello and sang in choirs including the BBC Chorus. She trained as a music engineer and prior to joining Air-Edel worked as an engineer at both the BBC and EMI.

 

In her role, Maggie works closely with composers and music team members, negotiating contracts, producing, music supervising and coordinating music recordings. Her credits showcase an extensive list of high profile film scores including Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Chevalier, The Souvenir Part II, Paddington 2, Darkest Hour, Kubo and the Two Strings, Cinderella, The Boxtrolls, Belle, Third Person, Anna Karenina, Brave, My Week with Marilyn, W.E., The King’s Speech, The First Grader, Atonement, Pride & Prejudice, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Miss Potter, Gladiator and Carlito’s Way.

 

Outside of her role at Air-Edel, Maggie has made significant contributions to the music and film industry serving as a PRS (Performing Right Society) Director for many years as an active member of the PRS Executive Board. Additionally, she was a member of the BAFTA Film committee for six years and is currently a director of Bafta Media Technology Ltd. Maggie is currently supervising Universal Pictures films Wicked: and Wicked: Part two, directed by Jon M Chu, and the Walt Disney Studios live action adaptation of Snow White directed by Marc Webb.
