Cinefan Festival Úbeda 2022 – 10th anniversary – Concerts & program
One more year, Cinefan Festival Úbeda is coming back, and on this occasion will celebrate its 10th anniversary in Ubeda (Jaen, Spain), from Friday 22 to Sunday 24, July 2022. The program will include three film music concerts, as well as conferences, meetings with actors, and other cultural activities of a diverse nature.
Many guests have confirmed their attendance to the event, with actors and actresses such as Sarah Douglas (Superman II, Conan The Destroyer, V – TV Series), Claudia Wells (Back to the Future), Sylvester McCoy (The Hobbit, Doctor Who), Manuel Tallafé (Entrevías, Balda Triste de Trompeta, Crimen Ferpecto), Luisa Martín (Médico de Familia, Servir y Proteger) or Juanjo Artero (Verano Azul, El Comisario, Servir y Proteger) among others.
In addition, the festival will also include the participation of cartoonist Paco Sáez (Catch the flag, Planet 51, Tadeo Jones 2, and Tadeo Jones 3), who will give a talk entitled ‘From Sketch to Screen’.
As for the musical section, the festival will offer three concerts:
CONCERT and DISC PRESENTATION – SONGS TO SURVIVE A CATASTROPHE – THURSDAY 21/7/2022 – 22:30h
The group MALPASO from Estepona, Spain will present at the Hotel Palacio de Úbeda their latest album ‘SONGS TO SURVIVE A CATASTROPHE’, with versions of well-known movie themes. In this album you can listen to eleven songs with the best of the music of the catastrophic genre, such as three songs that won an Oscar, “My Heart Will Go On” from Titanic, “The Morning After” from The Poseidon Adventure or “We May Never Love Like This Again” from The Towering Inferno, sung by Virgina Alexandre; also great rock classics like “Sweet Home Alabama” from Con Air, “California Dreaming” from San Andreas, “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” from Armageddon or “Human Beings” from Twister, some songs to dance like “Stayin’ Alive” from Airplane!, “War” from Backdraft or “It’s Not Unusual” from Mars Attacks! , closing the album with the collaboration of baritone David Geary in the classic song “Auld Lang Syne” from San Francisco.
CINEFAN OPEN CONCERT – FRIDAY 22/7/2021 – 22:00h
This year “Cinefan Open Concert” will be dedicated exclusively to the anniversary of the Harry Potter saga, which began in 2001 and at Christmas 2021 turned two decades, and will be performed by the Banda Sinfónica de Jaén conducted by Pedro López Álvarez.
The concert will tour, musically and visually, the eight films in a space specially themed for the occasion, the courtyard of the Hospital de Santiago, which on the night of Friday, July 22 will become Hogwarts and will receive the fans as they deserve. In addition, people dressed in costumes related to the saga will receive a special gift in honor of the commemoration.
The saga has millions of fans around the world and continues to expand its universe through new films that maintain the interest in the world created by J. K. Rowling. The soundtrack is the work of famed composers John Williams, Patrick Doyle, Nicholas Hooper, and Alexandre Desplat.
During the musical journey audiences will listen pieces such as Hedwig’s Theme, Hogwarts Hymn, Harry in Winter, Quidditch, or Dumbledore’s Army, among others.
The concert will be priced at 10 € if you only buy the ticket for this concert, and 16 € if you buy the voucher that also allows you to attend the “Cinefan Concert” gala on Saturday 23. The ticket for the second concert, purchased separately, will be priced at 12 €. Tickets can be reserved or purchased by calling 953 75 79 16 or at the premises of SEMER Tourism and Culture, Calle Juan Montilla No. 3, until Wednesday July 20. Latecomers can purchase or pick them up at the box office of the Hospital de Santiago, from one hour before each concert.

CINEFAN CONCERT – SATURDAY 23/7/2022 – 22:30h
One of the most special moments of Cinefan Festival is the great concert of soundtracks and gala that takes place on Saturday night of the festival, in the Patio of the Hospital de Santiago. In it, in addition to the music, play an important role the guests who will intervene and accompany the audience on a journey through the different soundtracks of their films.
The concert, performed by the Banda Sinfónica Ciudad de Jaén under the baton of Pedro López Álvarez, will take a journey through the soundtracks of films such as “Superman”, “Conan the Destroyer”, the saga of “The Hobbit”, “Back to the Future” and “Star Wars”. The first part of the concert is kept completely secret as is the tradition in each edition, with the aim of surprising the audience. Throughout the concert will intervene Sarah Douglas, Claudia Wells, Sylvester McCoy, and other guests, to give the audience unique, special, and unforgettable moments.
