Dances with Wolves in Concert – World Premiere
On Friday 4th and Saturday 5th of December, 2020, the City Light Symphony Orchestra conducted by Thiago Tiberio will bring to live John Barry’s Oscar-winning soundtrack for ‘Dances with Wolves’ (1990, dir. Kevin Costner), while the movie is projected in HD in a big screen.
This world premiere event, will give us the opportunity to listen to the full orchestral splendor of John Barry’s brilliant, distinctly thematic, beautiful score, for which he received his fifth Academy Award.
John Barry read the script and immediately agreed. In Barry’s words: “The war-injured John Dunbar gets to know the beauty of nature and the dignity of the Sioux Indians in the border region. This portrays my music.”
With bold symphonic music and heartbreaking intimacy at the same time, Barry depicts the demise of the Wild West and Lieutenant John Dunbar’s touching adventures with the wolf “Two-socks” and the Sioux Indians.
The film will be projected in English and Lakota languages, with German subtitles.
