Festival of Film 2018 – Royal Albert Hall
While last week the biggest news in the world of film music events was the concert that John Williams will celebrate in London next October, which was announced by surprise by the Royal Albert Hall (read news), during the week, more films in concert (with live orchestra) were announced, which are included in the “Festival of Film” or “Films in Concert” series; two series that can be enjoyed throughout 2018.
Let’s review the full list of concerts announced to date.
HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS IN CONCERT
Projected in high-definition on a 12 meter screen, watch Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by Justin Freer, performing John Williams’ iconic score.
Friday 27th – Sunday 29th of Abril 2018 – 1:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m.

FESTIVAL OF SCIENCE 2018
As it was previously reported (read news), it will include three Sci-Fi movie related concerts: STAR TREK – IN CONCERT (June 2nd), STAR TREK BEYOND – IN CONCERT (June 3rd) and CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND IN CONCERT (June 14th).

GLADIATOR LIVE IN CONCERT
Ridley Scott’s legendary five-time Academy Award-winning film will be accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra performing Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard’s complete score live, conducted by Justin Freer, with vocal soloist Lisa Gerrard.

JURASSIC PARK – IN CONCERT
Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Jurassic Park in 2018, the movie will be projected in HD with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Ben Palmer performing John Williams’ magnificent score live to picture.

THE ENGLISH PATIENT LIVE (WORLD PREMIERE)
Multi-Academy Award winning 1996 motion picture ‘The English Patient’ will be projected on a vast HD screen while Gabriel Yared’s Oscar-winning score is performed live in-sync by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, conducted by Ludwig Wicki.
This special screening will be preceded by an on-stage Q&A with composer Gabriel Yared.
