FIMUCITÉ 12 – Full program

Today begins the Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ) to be held in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain) from Friday, September 21st to Sunday, September 30th, 2018.


During the last weeks we have published information about the festival in several specific posts in SoundTrackFest, and with this special article, we want to group all that information in one place, so that you have it handy.



The festival will have composers Christopher Young, Ben Foster, Nick Foster, Jean-Michel Bernard, Laura Karpman, Carlos M. Jara, and Óscar Martín Leanizbarrutia and soloists Kimiko Ono, Lydia Kavina, Adé Da Costa, Esther Ovejero, and Fran León.

The festival will have a total of 9 concerts spread over the 9 days:

  • Saturday 22/9 – 19h y 22h – The Pop Culture Band presents ‘Addicted to Love’
  • Sunday 23/9 – 19h (two concerts) – ‘Neighbourhood cinema in Concert’ and ‘Play it again, Jean-Michel’
  • Thursday 27/9 – 10:30h – ‘Colossus of the Big Screen’ [for school public]
  • Friday 28/9 – 10:30h – Theremin with Lydia Kavina and the Krakow FMF Youth Ensemble [for school public]
  • Friday 28/9 – 20h – Live to picture of ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’
  • Saturday 29/9 – 19h – Closing gala ‘The truth is Out There’
  • Sunday 30/9 – 19h – ‘Colossus of the Big Screen’

The FIMUCITÉ Film Scoring Academy for Audiovisual Composers, celebrates this year its 3rd edition on 26, 27 and 28th of September, with the following activities:

  • Wednesday 26/9 – 11:00h – Everything you always wanted to know about film composition, but you never dared to ask (Jean-Michel Bernard).
  • Wednesday 26/9 – 15:00h – The creative process composer-director (Diego Navarro, Enrique Gato, Mar Targarona).
  • Thursday 27/9 – 12:00h – Musical challenges of the documentary genre (Laura Karpman, Doreen Ringer-Ross).
  • Thursday 27/9 – 15:00h – Reach your summits of inspiration (Christopher Young, Doreen Ringer-Ross).
  • Friday 28/9 – 12:30h – When two composers are better than one. The creative tandem in film music (Ben y Nick Foster).
  • Friday 28 – 15:30h – Protect your creation (Darío Palomo).

FIMUCITÉ 12 - Film Scoring Academy



The festival will present the first edition of the ‘Spanish Audiovisual Music Awards’ that is an initiative of FIMUCITÉ and Musimagen (Asociación de Compositores de Música para Audiovisual – Association of Music Composers for the Audiovisual) aimed at recognizing the creative talent in Spain:


The 6th edition of FIMUCINEMA will have works that will compete for the best original score awards in their respective categories (Alex North Award for Best Soundtrack in fiction feature, and the Fimucinema Awards for the best original score for documentary, short film, and best original song):


And finally actress Concha Velasco will receive the FIMUCITÉ – Antón García Abril award and the festival will pay posthumous tribute to the composers Joe Harnell and Jóhann Jóhannsson:
