Complete press release:

“The sci-fi genre “cyberpunk”, borne of noir fiction in the 80s, with authors such as William Gibson or Bruce Sterling, in which dystopian futures where technology and robotics dominate the world, is the theme of inspiration for the 16th Edition of the Festival Internacional de Música de Cine de Tenerife (FIMUCITÉ), an event that will take place from the 16th to the 25th of September with the support of Cabildo de Tenerife, Gobierno de Canarias, and the councils of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and San Cristóbal de La Laguna, among others. This way, the music from key ‘cyberpunk’ sagas such as ‘The Matrix’ or ‘The Terminator’, and other titles such as ‘Tron’, ‘Robocop’ or the legendary ‘Blade Runner’, this being the 40th anniversary of Ridley Scott’s masterpiece, will be performed by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife and the Tenerife Film Choir under the direction of renowned composer and orchestra conductor Diego Navarro, director of FIMUCITÉ.

In this new edition, as well the concert lineup, the audience will be able to, once again, enjoy encounters with great composers, such as American Brad Fiedel, composer of the scores for ‘Terminator’ and ‘Terminator 2’, who will be one of the guests for FIMUCITÉ 16. James Cameron gave him his big break in 1984 and the iconic score he wrote for the sci-fi classic starring Arnold Schwarzenegger shook the movie world and brought him international recognition. Known for his innovative style and his unique style of combinations of acoustic and electronic sounds, Fiedel composed the score for other successful films such as ‘Fright Night’ and its sequel, ‘The Serpent and the Rainbow’, ‘True Lies’ or ‘Johnny Mnemonic’. It’s worthy to note that this will be the first time that Brad Fiedel, creator of over 100 scores for film and TV, takes part in a specialized festival.

Tickets will soon be on sale for the themed concerts that will take place on Friday the 23rd of September and Saturday the 24th, respectively, ‘Cyberpunk Remastered (Vol. 1) – Manga / Anime’ and ‘Cyberpunk Remastered (Vol. 2) – Mecha’. Both concerts will share a section, which will include pieces from ‘The Terminator’, ‘Transformers’, ‘Total Recall’, ‘The Matrix’, ‘Blade Runner’ and the videogame ‘Cyberpunk 2077’, as well sections exclusive to either concert. In short, the concert programmed for the 23rd, dedicated to Manga and Anime, will include ‘Akira’, Ghost in the Shell’ and ‘Alita’, whereas the concert on the 24th, ‘Mecha’, will take us from silent classic ‘Metrópolis’ to ‘Tron’, ‘Pacific Rim’ or ‘Robocop’.
