ISFMF 2019 – Festival Program, guests, and concert

The International Sound & Film Music Festival (ISFMF), which will be celebrated from Saturday 19th to Monday 21st of October 2019 at the Park Plaza Histria Hotel of Pula, Croatia, has just published today its conference program.

The main guests of this year’s edition will be composers Stephen Warbeck, Gary Yershon & Gary Marlowe, and sound editor Eddy Joseph.

 

The program will be the following:

SATURDAY, 19 OCT

  • 14.00– CRYSTAL PINE NOMINEES: CAPERNAUM | screening
  • 16.30– CRYSTAL PINE NOMINEES: A QUIET PLACE | screening
  • 18.00– PINE & WINE | Gathering
  • 18.30– CRYSTAL PINE NOMINEES: THE FAVOURITE | screening
  • 21.00– CRYSTAL PINE NOMINEES: HEREDITARY | screening

 

SUNDAY, 20 OCT

  • 11.00-12.00 – BALANCING THE THEATRE AND FILM | Stephen Warbeck,Gary YershonGorka Oteiza (mod) | master class. Is there a difference between composing for film and for theatre? What is the approach to different genres? What is the path to the Oscars? The insights to these questions and many more will give Oscar-winning composer Stephen Warbeck (Shakespeare in Love, Billy Elliot, Proof…) and Oscar-nominated composer Gary Yershon (Another Year, Mr. Turner, Peterloo…), moderated by the founder of SoundTrackFest, Gorka Oteiza.

 

  • 12.05-12.20– PAINTING THE MUSIC | Žana Bajić & Ozren K. Glaser | exhibition opening. Art means no boundaries. Film music and painting? Yes, indeed! The creative symbiosis between the visual and auditive flourishes within this project by the academy-trained painter Žana Bajić and composer Ozren K. Glaser.

 

  • 12.30-14.00– THE ART OF SOUND | Eddy Joseph | master class. Let the BAFTA-winning sound editor take you to the amazing world of Hollywood mastery like no one before. Batman, Corpse Bride, Casino Royale, Harry Potter, Cold Mountain, and United 93 are just the tip of the iceberg of everything this cinematic legend has done professionally.

 

  • 14.30-15.15– THE EVOLUTION OF AN IDEA, DIRECTOR-COMPOSER COLLABORATION | Gary Marlowe | screening, master class. A unique experience led by innovative composer and musician Gary Marlowe explaining how he’s created a whole new approach to the short film named Pete’s Last Dance and fruitful collaboration with its director Benjamin Teske.

 

  • 15.30– CRYSTAL PINE NOMINEES: SELECTION OF SHORTS | screening

 

  • 20.00 – ISFMF CRYSTAL PINE AWARDS CEREMONY / CINEMA, MON AMOUR| concert

 

MONDAY, 21 OCT

  • 11.30-12.30– HORIZONS OF FILM MUSIC | Panel with ISFMF Award Winners (Bruna Bajić, mod). What is the current situation of film music? What is the future? Where will technology lead? Is there enough diversity? Is there a clash between genres? Also, who is going to participate in this panel?? Let it be a surprise!

 

NOTE:  All events are taking place at hotel Park Plaza Histria Pula, conference center. Screenings of the Crystal Pine nominated works are taking place in the hotel’s Cinema Hall near the Luna’s Bar.

 

In SoundTrackFest we would like to highlight the panel “BALANCING THE THEATRE AND FILM” on Sunday 20th @11:00h, with Oscar-Winning composer Stephen Warbeck and Oscar-nominated composer Gary Yershon, moderated by SoundTrackFest’s founder and director Gorka Oteiza.

International Sound & Film Music Festival (ISFMF) 2019 - Conferences

 

Looking closely, the ISFMF 2019 program might look less populated than last year’s program, but we have to be aware that Film Festivals Days (FFD), a complementary event aimed at organizers of film festivals in Europe, will be celebrated on the same dates and the same place (20-21 October 2019), thus allowing audiences from both events generate new synergies (having also the same the team behind the organization of both festivals: dreaMaker Productions).

Finally, as you will see in the program, this year the Camille Awards won’t be celebrated integrated at ISFMF, giving this way more prominence to the festival’s own awards, the Crystal Pine Awards, that will have their full ceremony and concert on Sunday 20th:
