World-renown Japanese composer, orchestra conductor, and pianist Joe Hisaishi, will travel to Vienna in March 2023 for a very special concert of his music at the Musikverein Wien with the Wiener Symphoniker.

The concert will be celebrated on Thursday, March 30, 2023. Unfortunately, the event scheduled for that date with Alexandre Desplat (read more), has been postponed to March 1st, 2024.

We regret to announce that the concert of Alexandre Desplat with The Wiener Symphoniker unfortunately has to be postponed to March 1, 2024 due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict.

Alexandre Desplat is very much looking forward to 2024 and we kindly ask his fans to be patient for another year.

 

However, we are very happy to announce that the worldwide acclaimed composer and conductor JOE HISAISHI, who is famous for his compositions for the Hayao Miyazaki Anime films for Studio Ghibli as well as for the films of acclaimed director Takeshi Kitano and his minimal music composition, will conduct the premiere concert of the new concert series CINEMA:SOUND with The Wiener Symphoniker at the Musikverein in ViennaMarch 30th, 2023.

 

Joe Hisaishi will present highlights of his work such as a Symphonic Suite to the popular Anime movie »Princess Mononoke« and others.

NEW: JOE HISAISHI IN CONCERT

 

In total, Hisaishi scored more than 110 films. He is especially known for his music to the films of director Hayao

Miyazaki, Takeshi Kitano, Isao Takahata. With Departures (2008) directed by Yojiro Takita received the 81st Academy Award  best foreign language film.

 

As a conductor, he leads his own orchestra called Future Orchestra Classics and released Beethoven: Complete Symphonies that was given »Special Prize« from 57th Record Academy Award Japan 2019.

 

Joe Hisaishi has also collaborated with a wide range of artists including Philip Glass, David Lang, Mischa Maisky, and orchestra such as the Hong Kong Philharmonic, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, American Symphony Orchestra, among others.

 

Since 2014, he has been working as a producer and conductor, and holding contemporary music concerts called »JOE HISAISHI presents MUSIC FUTURE«, which concert series earned him enormous popularity and records as a live album.

 

Joe Hisaishi will present highlights of his work such as a Symphonic Suite to the popular Anime movie »Princess Mononoke«, the music to Kitano’s »Summer«, »HANA-BI«, »Kids Return« and his »Symphony No. 2«.”
