Joe Hisaishi in Paris 2019 – Photos and commentary

“Tonight we enjoyed a wonderful concert by Joe Hisaishi in Paris; the first of the three concerts he will conduct & perform (playing piano on some pieces) over the weekend. The acoustics of the Philharmonie de Paris were amazing, no amplification needed, and crystal clear sound from an astonishing 3D Orchestra, composed by advanced students and professors of the Conservatoire de Paris. The program was unusual on the first half, completely dedicated to his work ‘The East Land Symphony’, divided in five movements (two with Soprano). The second half had a more common mix of Hisaishi’s music for Kitano’s and Miyazaki’s movies (two encores included – Totoro and Porco Rosso). A wonderful acoustics and venue, for an extraordinary concert: different on the first half and off the charts on the second half!”
