Krakow Film Music Festival 2017 – Program and guests

Prestigious European festival ‘Krakow Film Music Festival’, held in Krakow (Poland), and that this year celebrates its tenth anniversary, has just presented the official program and guest list.

The festival, which will be held from Wednesday, May 17th to Tuesday, May 23rd, has the following concerts in its program:

Wednesday 17th – 8 pm – The Music of Abel Korzeniowski

At the ICE Kraków Congress Centre with the Beethoven Academy Orchestra conducted by Abel Korzeniowski.

 

Thursday 18th – 7 pm – NEVERENDING STORY Live in Concert (world premiere)

At the ICE Kraków Congress Centre with the Sinfonietta Cracovia conducted by Christian Schumann, and with composer Klaus Doldinger playing saxophone, while movie is screened.

 

Friday 19th – 8 pm – Cinematic Piano

At the ICE Kraków Congress Centre with composer Jean-Michel Bernard offering a piano concert.

 

Friday 19th – 10 pm – DANCE2CINEMA: Midnight Express Party with Giorgio Moroder

At the Jan Nowak-Jeziorański Square, where composer Giorigo Moroder will have a special session as DJ, in a festive and popular atmosphere, which will include film music as well as other famous themes he has composed.

 

Saturday 20th – 6 pm – ALL IS FILM MUSIC – FMF 10th anniversary gala

At the TAURON Arena Kraków with Pro Musica Mundi Choir and Beethoven Academy Orchestra conducted by Diego Navarro, with music from Penny Dreadful (Abel Korzeniowski), The Lord of the Rings (Howard Shore) and Finding Neverland (Jan A. P. Kaczmarek), among others.

 

Sunday 21st – 12 pm – FMF YOUTH ORCHESTRA PLAYS STAR WARS

At the ICE Kraków Congress Centre with FMF Youth Choir and FMF Youth Orchestra conducted by Monika Bachowska, with music of John Williams’ Star Wars saga, in a concert organized in conjunction with the Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ) and that will be repeated again in Tenerife in September.

 

Sunday 21st – 6 pm – TITANIC Live in Concert

At the TAURON Arena Kraków with Sinfonietta Cracovia conducted by Ludwig Wicki, playing the fabulous music of James Horner for Titanic, while movie is screened.

 

Monday 22nd – 9:30 pm – Outdoor cinema screening

Film to be determined, to be screened at Powiśle 11 at the foot of the famous Wawel Hill (no orchestra or live music).

 

Tuesday 23rd – 7 pm – FMF YOUTH ORCHESTRA PLAYS STAR WARS

Reprise of the concert offered Sunday 21st, at The Krzysztof Penderecki European Center for Music of Zakliczy (being this the only concert of the festival that won’t be held in Krakow)

 

 

Thus, according to information available on the official website, during the festival, the following composers will be attending as guests/artists: Jan A.P. Kaczmarek, Giorgio Moroder, Howard Shore, Jean-Michel Bernard, Richard Bellis, Abel Korzeniowski and Diego Navarro.

The program of conferences and workshops, which is part of the core of the festival, hasn’t been announced yet, but is expected in the following weeks (as well as the possible presence of new guests).
