Michael Giacchino in concert in Dublin – June 2019 – Detailed information
As we announced some months ago (read news-1 & news-2), Michael Giacchino will be in Dublin (Ireland) on June 21 and 22, 2019, to conduct two special concerts of his music with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra at the National Concert Hall.
A Celebration of the Music of Michael Giacchino
The first concert, entitled ‘A Celebration of the Music of Michael Giacchino’, will be held on Friday, June 21st at 19:30h, and will be dedicated to the vast and varied music of Michael Giacchino. The concert will be performed by the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, and conducting will be shared between Michael Giacchino and Ernst Van Tiel. The event will be hosted by presenter Aedín Gormley.
SoundTrackFest has had access to the program, and we can confirm that it will include (among some surprises) the music of The Incredibles 2, Medal of Honor, Tomorrowland, War for the Planet of the Apes, Zootopia, Jurassic World, Up, Rogue One, Coco, Super 8, Star Trek, and Voyage, Giacchino’s concert work commemorating the 60th anniversary of NASA, commissioned by the National Symphony Orchestra of Washington and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra.
It is a big surprise to know that the wonderful Super 8 suite, performed in October 2017 at Michael Giacchino’s 50th birthday celebration concert at the Royal Albert Hall (read concert review here), will be performed again in this occasion, which includes beautiful footage of home-made sci-fi movies created by a young Michael and his friends.

We Have to Go Back: The LOST Concert Dublin
The second concert, entitled ‘We Have to Go Back: The LOST Concert Dublin’, will be held on Saturday, June 22nd at 19:30h, performed by the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Michael Giacchino, and will be dedicated to music for the world-famous television series LOST.
This European Premiere concert will be hosted by Carlton Cuse (co-showrunner of the TV Series), and will take LOST fans on a journey back to the island. Presented in association with Little Jacket Industries, the proceeds of the concert will benefit the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra’s Music in the Classroom education program.
