SoundTrack_Cologne 15 – Full program and guest composers

SoundTrack_Cologne celebrates its 15th Edition in a few days, from August 22nd to 25th, 2018 in Cologne (Germany), and has already published the full program, including more than 45 events.

 

SoundTrack_Cologne is Germany’s most popular conference of Music and Sound in Movies, TV and Games, and one of the biggest events in its category in Europe. With numerous workshops, panels, and lectures by experienced composers, the congress offers inspiring input to professionals, students, and music enthusiasts, altogether with networking events that provide connecting opportunities.

 

During the congress, “See The Sound” film program is held, showing a broad array of connecting image and sound, and bringing music films which are otherwise seldom found in the big screen.

 

The congress is divided mainly into three different thematic days dedicated to Games, Film, and TV respectively.

 

GAMES - Thursday 23rd of August

Composers Takeshi Furukawa (The Last Guardian), Pieter Schlosser (Destiny 2), and Garry Schyman (BioShock) will be the main guests of this day, where they will talk about the characteristics of video game scores, personal experiences, and upcoming projects, being also available for questions from the audience.

Gareth Coker (Ori and the Blind Forest), Richard Jacques (Mass Effect, Sonic), Helge Borgarts (Bring them home), and Inon Zur (Baldur’s Gate II: Throne of Bhaal, Fallout 3 & 4), will join a roundtable panel discussion at the end of the day to the rest of their colleagues.

After that, the first night will host a special concert, a Live-to-Game concert for ‘Stories: The Path of Destinies’ video game. More information and tickets here:

FILM - Friday 24th of August

Composers Jed Kurzel (Assasin’s Creed, Alien: Covenant), Tamar-kali (Mudbound), and Joseph Trapanese (TRON:Uprising), plus the 2018 SoundTrack_Cologne Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Craig Armstrong (Moulin Rouge!), will be the main guests of this day in several conferences/panels.

Special mention for a masterclass on this day called “Reality Check Masterclass – Recording Successfully with live musicians” that will have expert violinist Dimitrie Leivici, who is Synchron Stage Vienna orchestra’s concertmaster.

This second night will also have a special concert called ‘Heart of Gaming’ performed by the WDR Funkhausorchester orchestra conducted by Evan Christ. More information and tickets here:

TV - Saturday 25th of August

Main guest composers for this day are Kevin Kiner (Star Wars Rebels) Lolita Ritmanis (Spectacular Spider-Man), Eloi Ragot (The Break), Ginge Anvik (State of Happiness), and Mac Quayle (American Crime Story, Mr. Robot). They are specialized in working for TV, ranging from superheroes to horror classics or innovative shows, and they will talk about team composing with its chances and challenges, or their thoughts behind their compositions, among many other things.

Unfortunately, Lolita Ritmanis, who was initially announced and confirmed, won’t be able to join SoundTrack_Cologne, due to a family emergency.

During the morning, the clips for the European Talent Competition and Peer Raben Music Award will be shown in the Auditorium, with the award ceremony being celebrated that night. Read more here:
