Christopher Young Film Scoring Program – Madrid (Spain) – Summer 2018

As we told you a few weeks ago, Christopher Young will return this summer to Madrid (Spain) to teach a composition course for the image called “Christopher Young Film Scoring & Orchestral Recording Program Spain”, organized by GEMS (Global Entertainment Music Mentors) and leaded by its director Nigel Ashley Lees.

This program, which already had its first edition in July 2017 (read news), will celebrate its second edition from Wednesday, June 27th to Thursday, July 5th, 2018, having been expanded in content and duration in comparison to last year, as you can see in the details that are summarized below.

 

PROGRAM

The course will have 8 days of theoretical-practical classes (from June 27th to July 4th), culminating with one day (Friday, July 5th) for the recording sessions of the material composed by the students during the classes.

It will begin with a 2-day Bootcamp, taught by the composer and conductor Juanjo Molina, having next Christopher Young teaching a special 5-day program.

CONFERENCES

During the course, lessons and remote conferences have been scheduled with composers Andy Hill, Garry Schyman, Richard Bellis, Eimear Noone and Craig Stuart Garfinkle, in 1-2 hour sessions, where topics such as how to compose for video games or how to manage creativity when deadlines are tight will be discussed.

Gorka Oteiza (SoundTrackFest), will also participate in-person, offering a conference named ‘Leave Your Studio – You’re More Than Your Music’.

RECORDING SESSIONS

The recording sessions of the pieces composed by the students will take place on Thursday, July 5th in the Auditorium of the Getafe Conservatory (Madrid) with the 40-piece Mad4Strings Studio Orchestra, conducted by Carlos Martín Jara or by the students themselves, as they wish. In addition, the recording session will be in charge of the renowned sound and recording engineer José Vinader, winner of a Goya award.

The price of the full program is 1495 €, which will be reduced to 1195 € if only the recording sessions or only the classes are selected.
