XIII International Symposium – La creación musical en la banda sonora
On June 25 and 26, 2021, the “XIII International Symposium – Music Creation in Soundtracks / La creación musical en la banda Sonora”, which for almost two decades has been the reference forum for the study of music in audiovisual media in Spain, will be held in virtual format.
Since 2002, when this meeting began, the study of audiovisual music has experienced an evident growth and has become a booming discipline, of obvious interest for musicology, and also for film studies, audiovisual communication, cultural studies or video games.
The symposium will include traditional topics such as the creation and analysis of film music, in Spain and abroad, and the different methods of approaching this repertoire. The music present in the audiovisual environment will be addressed, both the sound creation of television series, commercials, and video clips, as well as the growing environment offered by the Internet or the world of video games.

From SoundTrackFest we would like to highlight a conference on Friday 25 entitled ‘About the promotion of audiovisual music: from concerts to social media’ with the participation of composer Alejandro Román, as well as the round table prior to the closing ceremony of the festival on Saturday 26, from 18:40h to 20:00h.
This round table, entitled: ‘Film music in the media: functions, presence and formats’, will have the participation of Raúl Luis García (Vamos al Cine – Radio Clásica/RNE), Pablo Laspra (Composer, director and founder of FilmMusic Live!), and Gorka Oteiza (Founder and director of SoundTrackFest), moderated by Gerardo Sánchez (Director of Días de Cine – TVE).
