SCL Emmy Reception 2016 and Winners!!

As every year, the SCL (Society of Composers and Lyricists) hosted a reception for its members due to the proximity of the Emmy Awards 2016, where all nominations of the 5 musical categories were presented, with the attendance of most of the nominated composers.
The reception was held on the night of September 8th, Beverly Hills Montage hotel, and SoundTrackFest was lucky to be invited to report this event.
The event lasted 2 hours, and was presented by the president of the SCL, Ashley Irwin and Television Academy Governors Michael Levine and Rickey Minor, who were naming one by one the various musical categories awarded at the Emmys, while handing out nomination diplomas to each of the composers. All this was interspersed with speeches from the nominees, as well as curious and fun videos created by them, that told anecdotes and showed the “suffering” that goes on during the composition process.
Most of the nominees were attending the reception and went up on stage to get their degree, Jeff Russo, Chris Bacon, Paul Leonard-Morgan, Sean Callery, Mac Quayle, Abel Korzeniowski, Duncan Thum, Jeff Beal, Diane Warren, Riki Lindhome, Kate Micucci etc… but there were some important absences like James Newton Howard, Danny Elfman, Alan Menken or Victor Reyes.
Also, during the event, you could see many familiar faces, that have already been in many of the Spanish film music festivals; Beth Krakower (The Krakower Group), Ray Costa (Costa Communications), Thomas Mikusz (White Bear PR), John Tempereau (SMA), Robert Townson (Varèse Sarabande), Dan Goldwasser (La-La Land Records), Michael Todd and Shawn LeMone (ASCAP), Doreen Ringer-Ross, Anne Cecere and Ray Yee (BMI), Erin Collins (SESAC), Gorka Oteiza (SoundTrackFest), and the composers Sergio Moure de Oteyza, Federico Jusid, Miriam Cutler y Kristopher Carter amongst others.
