Los Angeles Live Score Film Festival 2017

On Friday, May 12th, starting at 6:30 pm, the 4th edition of the “Los Angeles Live Score Film Festival 2017” will be held at the Barnsdall Gallery Theater in Los Angeles (California – USA).

 

The festival features short films with original scores performed live-to-picture, spanning a wide spectrum of genres including animation, drama, suspense, documentary, comedy, and dance. Winning film composers were paired with a participating filmmaker to create an original score for the festival, where short films will be screened with the score performed live by the renowned performance and recording ensemble, Helix Collective, with conductor Angel Velez.

Previous to the screening there will be an interview with the filmmakers and composers with host, Brian Ralston of the SCOREcast podcast, and a Meet-and-Greet reception. Awards for Best Picture and Best Musical Score will be chosen by audience vote and presented at the close of the festival.

 

The planning is as follows:

  • 6:30 pm – Panel with filmmakers and composers hosted by Brian Ralston of SCOREcast
  • 7:30-9:00 pm – Screening with live performance of the scores by Helix Collective
  • 9:00-10:00 pm – Reception catered by India Sweets & Spices

  • The Swan (NYFA) – Filmmaker Tiffany Paulsen, Composer Bronson Buskett
  • Trio (NYFA) – Filmmaker Zesheng Gao, Composer Wei-San Hsu
  • The Wanderer – Filmmaker Patrick Mulderrig, Composer Alexander Thomas
