Complete program of the third edition of ‘Ubeda Soundtrack Festival’

This Monday, July 9th, the program of the third edition of the ‘Úbeda Soundtrack Festival’ was unveiled, which will be held from July 10th to 14th, organized by the Asociación Cultural Amigos de la Música (Friends of Music Cultural Association), that has just finished the 30th edition of the “International Music and Dance Festival – City of Ubeda“.


The program includes the following events, all of them related to film music:

On Tuesday, July 10th at 10 p.m., the festival kicked off with a special screening of the silent film ‘Nosferatu’ (1922) at the Palace of Don Luis de la Cueva, accompanied on the piano by Jordi Sabatés, with music composed by him. Free entry.


On Wednesday, July 11th at 10 p.m., at the Hospital de Santiago, the group La Bandada de Mancini will perform works by one of the greatest composers of jazz and music for 20th century cinema: Henry Mancini, with themes from movies such as The Pink Panther, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Thorn Birds, Remington Steele, Days of Wine and Roses, Charade or The Party. On Thursday, July 12th at 10 p.m., the Agrupación Musical Ubetense conducted by Rafael Martínez Redondo will perform a varied program of cinematographic melodies adapted to a music band, on Cronista Cazabán Street. The program will include works by well-known authors such as John Williams, Ennio Morricone, James Horner, Michael Giacchino, Howard Shore and Hans Zimmer. Free entry.


On Friday, July 13th at 10 p.m., the Orquesta Joven de Andalucía (Young Orchestra of Andalusia) conducted by Lucas Macías, will present in the courtyard of the Colegio de la Trinidad, a classical music program from European composers that has been present in different films. Tickets € 12.


On Saturday, July 14th at 10 p.m., the festival will close with a special concert by the Orquesta Sinfónica Provincial de Málaga (Provincial Symphony Orchestra of Malaga) conducted by Arturo Díez Boscovich in the Plaza Vázquez de Molina. The program, called ‘The epic film music’, will include fragments of various soundtracks from famous movies, such as Star Wars, Lawrence of Arabia, The Great Escape, Braveheart, Conan the Destroyer, Back to the Future, The Magnificent Seven or ET the extraterrestrial among others. Tickets € 12.
