Concert ‘Elmer Bernstein – 50 years of Film Music’

On Sunday 18th of June at 6:00 pm, the Royal Albert Hall in London will host a tribute concert to the late composer Elmer Bernstein, named “Elmer Bernstein: 50 years of Film Music“, to celebrate what would have been his 95th Birthday this 2017.

 

The concert will feature the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, conducted by his son Peter Bernstein, and it is expected that throughout the evening numerous guests will appear on stage, including John Landis, who directed several of the films he scored.

Elmer Bernstein’s career spanned an unparalleled five decades, during which he composed more than 150 original movie scores, nearly 80 for television, and numerous other side-projects. He created some of the most recognizable and memorable themes in Hollywood history, including The Man With the Golden ArmThe Magnificent Seven, and The Great Escape, and picked up numerous awards including an Academy Award for Thoroughly Modern Millie in 1968.
