The Hollywood in Vienna film music festival, which will be celebrated on October 18 & 19 (read news), has just announced its main guest this year: Gabriel Yared, who will receive the Max Steiner Award at the gala concert ceremony on Saturday, October 19th.
This year the theme of the festival will be centered on the Oscars, where under the title ‘A Night At The Oscars’ the festival’s red carpet will be rolled out on the first half of the concert, for some of the most beautiful Oscar-winning films & compositions of all time starting with a sparkling opening with ‘Hooray for Hollywood’, to be followed later by music from cult films like ‘The Wizard of Oz’, ‘Casablanca’, ‘Jaws’, ‘Out of Africa’, ‘Schindler’s List’, as well as recent Oscar-winners, such as ‘The Shape of Water’ and ‘Black Panther’.
The second part of the concert will be dedicated to the music of Gabriel Yared, who turns 70 years old a few weeks before the festival, and who will present his music for movies such as ‘The English Patient’, ‘City of Angels’, ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’, ‘Cold Mountain’ or ‘The Lives of Others’.
The concert will be performed by the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna conducted by Boston Pops’ music director Keith Lockhart, and Gabriel Yared will also treat the audience to one of his rare public performances on the piano at the Wiener Konzerthaus.
As we already announced a few days ago, ticket sales will begin tomorrow, April 29 for VIP and Premium tickets, followed on Tuesday, April 30th by the general sale. More information:
