Krakow FMF 2026 – FMF Audiovisual Forum

PRESS RELEASE

The Potocki Palace at Rynek Główny 20 will once again be the centerpiece of this year’s FMF Audiovisual Forum. Over the course of five festival days, film music fans and industry professionals will gather here to discuss how the audiovisual world is changing before our eyes. The series of events will kick off on May 13th at 11:00 AM with a press conference.

The Forum’s program is divided into two sections: Film Music Lovers , aimed at a general audience, and Professionals , with a more specialized focus. Events featuring such esteemed composers as James Newton Howard and Cristobal Tapia de Veer, as well as Volker Bertelmann (Oscar winner for his score to All Quiet on the Western Front ), Mick Giacchino (composer of the music for the Penguin series), Brian Tyler ( Yellowstone ), and Jeff Russo ( Ripley ), are key elements of the Film Music Lovers section. Furthermore, in collaboration with the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, we have planned a meeting with Wojciech Smarzowski and Mikołaj Trzaska, which will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the collaboration between these two artists, who hold a crucial place in contemporary Polish culture.

In the Professionals section, we will discuss support models for young artists, the economics of film music and its place in the awards circuit, and the behind-the-scenes of composer-director collaboration, with contributions from Bartosz Blaschke and Paweł Lucewicz, among others. A key element of the Forum will be the FMF Immersive Sound Lab , a series of workshops dedicated to the surround sound technology used during the Alter FMF | Immersive Experience: Hauschka concert at Łaźnia Nowa. Furthermore, for several days at the Potocki Palace, we will experience surround sound through immersive listening sessions that bring a new dimension to film music.

“The FMF consistently builds Krakow’s potential as a city where the Polish and international audiovisual industries find their space for dialogue and the development of creative businesses,” says Marta Nawrocka, head of the Music Department at the Krakow Film Office and manager of the FMF. “This year’s Forum represents a gesture of particular significance in this context. The signing of a letter of intent between the Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia and the Krakow Film Music Festival is a declaration of cooperation between two of Poland’s most important industry events and a signal that Krakow is becoming a meeting place for the worlds of music and film, and for both environments to collaborate on the development of Polish cinema,” she emphasizes.

Galeria Kazimierz is the Strategic Partner of this year’s Festival. During the weekend of May 15–17, the square in front of the Gallery will be filled with events for a variety of audiences – from families with children to music and film lovers of all ages. Activities within the Festival Village are free. Tickets will be required for selected events, available for download on the KBF website: Tickets available from May 4, 2026.
