SONAFILM 2021 – Dates & concerts

Today, Monday, May 31st, the dates and the program of the 3rd edition of the SONAFILM festival have been announced, which will offer two film music concerts in August in the towns of Denia and Ondara (Alicante, Spain).

 

On Friday, August 20th at 22:30h the concert ‘Mythical Movie Songs’ performed by the group Moanin’ Project, will take place at the Torrecremada Park in Denia, where you will listen to well-known songs from famous films such as:

  • Live and Let Die – Paul McCartney (James Bond 007 – Live and let die)
  • Hurricane – Bob Dylan (The Hurricane)
  • You Never Can Tell – Chuck Berry (Pulp Fiction)
  • Bang Bang – Nancy Sinatra (Kill Bill)

 

This group is part of the Aljub Músic Association, as well as the Universal Symphony Orchestra, and the show has been created especially to be premiered at SONAFILM in Denia. The concert will be admission free until full capacity is reached (about 500 seats approx.).

On Saturday, August 21st at 23:00h the festival moves as on previous occasions to the Ondara Bullring, where the symphony concert dedicated to epic soundtracks, performed by the Universal Symphony Orchestra conducted by José Martínez Colomina will take place.

 

In the first half, the concert will have a special emphasis on the music of Howard Shore for the trilogies of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, counting as in 2019 with the participation of the Coda Children’s Choir. The second half of the concert will feature a small selection of some of the most epic soundtracks in film history.

 

The complete program will be as follows:

 

FIRST HALF

  • The Hobbit “Trilogy Suite” (Howard Shore)
  • The Fellowship of the Ring (Howard Shore)
  • The Two Towers (Howard Shore)
  • The Return of the King (Howard Shore)

 

SECOND HALF

  • Gone with the Wind (Max Steiner)
  • The Magnificent Seven (Elmer Bernstein)
  • Lawrence of Arabia (Maurice Jarre)
  • Braveheart (James Horner)
  • Robin Hood (Michael Kamen)
  • Rocky (Bill Conti)

 

Tickets this year will be numbered and there will be a limited capacity for the moment of 1,000 seats, with the condition of being able to expand it in the future if the regulations are changing for the better. In the first edition, there was a capacity of 2,000 seats, of which more than 90% were sold. Tickets, priced at 20-25€, will be available soon to purchase at the following address:

SONAFILM 2021 - Music from Epic Movies

 

SONAFILM, which was previously addressed as ‘Festival de Música de Cine Ondara’, has recently changed its name to ‘Festival de Música de Cine Marina Alta’, being currently formed by the municipalities of Ondara and Denia, with the aim of incorporating new localities in future editions.

The person in charge of SONFAILM is Javier Gil Pérez, president of the Aljub Músic Association and manager and founder of the Universal Symphony Orchestra, in charge of performing the symphonic concert on Saturday. The festival has the support and confidence of the two participating municipalities and especially the two councils of culture (in charge of Raquel Mengual in Ondara and Raul Garcia de la Reina in Denia) who are committed to carrying out cultural activities that enrich the area.
