SoundTrack_Cologne 15 – European Talent Competition

SoundTrack_Cologne festival, that will celebrate this year its 15th edition from August 22nd to 25th, 2018 in Cologne (Germany), has announced the opening of the European Talent Competition.

The goal of the European Talent Competition is to invite young composers and sound designers to create a new soundtrack for an animation short, providing an independent and original approach, to interpret and support narration at picture level.

 

The animation film selected for this year’s competition is BLUE HONEY (by Constance Joliff, Daphné Durocher and Fanny Lhotellier), and the competition will have two categories: WDR Filmscore Award and the Sound Design Award.

 

Those two categories are aimed at young and upcoming composers and sound designers, that will apply with their own musical ideas and sounds. Contestants can either compose the score, do the sound design or do both, and they may also work separately or together as a team of composer and sound designer.

 

The submissions will have no restrictions stylistically, being valued the creation of an own world of music and sound.

 

The winner of the WDR Filmscore Award will get the opportunity to record an own composition with the WDR Funkhausorchester in March 2019 and the winner of the Sound Design Award will receive a 5.1 cinematic mix in the prestigious sound mixing studio Chaussee Soundvision in Germany.

 

The twelve finalists and their works will be presented in the context of SoundTrack_Cologne to the audience and jury, and the competition screening and the award ceremony will take place on August 25th, 2018.
