Star Wars Film Concert Series in New York
Today Thursday, May 4th, is the official Star Wars day (“May the 4th be with you“), and to celebrate it, New York Philharmonic orchestra will begin selling tickets to the general public at noon for Star Wars Film Concert Series; a series of concerts during September and October, where movies of the saga will be screened with the music of John Williams played live, at the David Geffen Hall (Lincoln Center) in New York.
All of these concerts will be performed by the New York Philharmonic orchestra under the baton of David Newman, and will be held at the David Geffen Hall of the Lincoln Center in New York, being world premieres, as it will be the first time that the whole music is played live to the films of the saga.
The first Star Wars film was released on May 25th, 1977 in the United States (November 7th, 1977 in Spain), so this 2017 marks the 40th anniversary of the birth of the saga, and multitude of events and concerts are expected during the year, concerts that will be covered in SoundTrackFest.
