Terence Blanchard will receive the BMI Icon Award

Composer and celebrated jazz musician Terence Blanchard will be named a BMI Icon at the 35th annual BMI Film, TV & Visual Media Awards in recognition of his significant contributions to the cinematic community.

Terence Blanchard joins a prestigious list of previous BMI Icons that includes Alan Silvestri, Alexandre Desplat, David Arnold, Rachel Portman, David Newman, Thomas Newman, Mychael Danna, George S. Clinton, Harry Gregson-Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, Michael Kamen, Danny Elfman, Alan Menken, Mike Post, Lalo Schifrin, John Barry, James Newton Howard or John Williams, among many others.

 

The ceremony will also honor award-winning composer, arranger, orchestrator, and conductor William Ross with the BMI Classic Contribution Award, and will salute the top performing composers in film, TV and visual media of the past year.

The 35th annual BMI Film, TV & Visual Media Awards will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 15th, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills (Los Angeles, California), in a private event which will be hosted by Mike O’Neill (BMI President and CEO) and Doreen Ringer-Ross (BMI Vice President Creative – Film, TV & Visual Media Relations).
