World premiere of Lalo Schifrin’s ‘Concerto for Tuba and Orchestra’
This Saturday 3rd of March at 8:00 p.m., the Redlands Symphony Orchestra conducted by Ransom Wilson will perform in world premiere Lalo Schifrin’s ‘Concerto for Tuba and Orchestra’ in Memorial Chapel (Redlands, California, USA).
This piece, which Lalo Schifrin already mentioned in the exclusive interview he gave to SoundTrackFest at the end of 2016 (read interview), has been composed especially for Gene Pokorny, tuba of the Chicago Symphony, who will perform at the concert .
As described by Lalo Schifrin, the piece has a feeling of Jazz-meets-Baroque, with energy and endurance. You can read his very interesting notes to the tuba concerto here:
