Concert ‘WEST SIDE STORY’ with the BOS conducted by Ernst Van Tiel in Bilbao – REHEARSALS (Photos and Micro-Summary)

As we already told you in the following news (follow link), the Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa (BOS) conducted by Ernst Van Tiel will perform live the music composed by Leonard Bernstein for the film West Side Story (1957), today, Thursday 4 and tomorrow, Friday 5 of October at the Euskalduna Jauregia Palace in Bilbao (Spain).

Gorka Oteiza (SoundTrackFest) was invited to the rehearsals of the orchestra on Wednesday, October 3rd, and had the opportunity to interview conductor Ernst Van Tiel, in an extensive interview that will be released later along with the commentary of the concert of tomorrow Friday.

Meanwhile, Ernst Van Tiel left us the following comment when we asked him for a recommendation for the people who were thinking about attending the concert these days:

What I can say, and this is for all the cine-concerts, is that even for people who have seen it 20-30 times in cinema, this is totally new. They will hear and experience something that’s impossible to have in the cinema. That’s why they should attend tomorrow. Not only because you have the live orchestra, or because you hear more details than usually, but to see the live orchestra on stage is something different. It’s not like opera that they’re in the pit. When you see them on stage, it makes a lovely, emotional, and dramatic event. I know some people that have seen West Side Story 50 or 60 times, but what they will see tomorrow or on Friday, is something that they will have never seen before.
