Film Music Prague 2018 – True Stories Gala
Film Music Prague 2018 festival, that will be held from Thursday 19th to Sunday 22nd of April 2018, has recently announced a new concert that’s been added to the two already included in its program; the True Stories Gala concert.
Previously, a symphonic concert had been announced with the music of Clint Mansell (Saturday, April 21st) and a thematic concert with trailer music from Two Steps From Hell (Friday, April 20th), adding now a third concert to the program: True Stories Gala, which will close the festival on Sunday, April 22nd.
Let’s see in detail the three concerts announced so far:
Two Steps From Hell ‘Live in Concert’
Friday 20th of April 2018 at 7:00 pm – Forum Karlin (Prague)
The program will include music composed by Thomas Bergersen and Nick Phoenix (Two Steps from hell), famous for their music written for teasers and trailers of Hollywood blockbusters. The concert will include symphony orchestra, choir and soloist, performing under baton of Petr Pololanik. There will also be a special lighting design prepared for the occasion, in an original production of Film Music Prague festival. Note that composers Thomas Bergersen and Nick Phoenix will be festival guests but not performers.
At this moment, more than 70% of the tickets for this concert are sold, with remaining tickets in prices ranging 1199 – 1999 CZK (46 – 77 €)

Clint Mansell ‘Symphonic’
Saturday 21st of April 2018 at 7:00 pm – Forum Karlin (Prague)
British composer Clint Mansell was the leader and guitarist of British pop group Pop Will Eat Itself and began composing soundtracks when his friend, director Darren Aronofsky, asked him to score his first movie: π (Pi). The concert will be the world premiere of fully symphonic Clint Mansell’s music, and will have the composer in attendance. With a program yet to be determined, music from movies such as: Pi, Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, Doom, Moon or Black Swan are good candidates for the evening.

True Stories Gala
Sunday 22nd of April 2018 at 7:00 pm – Rudolfinum (Prague)
True Stories Gala will be a special closing concert of Film Music Prague 2018, a thematic night based on true stories told in the movies, with a program including works from many world-known composers (not only from Hollywood). And a gala concert deserves a gala location, so the venue will change from Forum Karlin to Rudolfinum (Prague), a neo-renaissance style building that is situated on Jan Palach Square on the bank of the river Vltava, which has been used by the festival in the past.
The concert will be performed by Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra and Kühn Choir with music from movies such as: 1492: Conquest of Paradise, Valkyrie, King’s Speech, Schindler’s List or Catch Me If You Can. More information about program and special guests will be available soon.

Film Music Prague is expected to announce new guests in the following weeks, and it is also possible that new surprises will appear, related to the first day of the festival, Thursday 19th.
