For the fifth consecutive year, the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia organizes the Méliès d’Or ceremony.
Yesterday, October 11, 2022, these awards were presented at a gala in Sitges, and our colleague Rafa Melgar, who attended the event, offers us the following photos and additional information.
The Méliès d’or and Méliès d’argent awards are granted each year to the best European feature and short fantastic films. These awards are a recognition of their quality and creativity levels and generate unique visibility for films and their directors. The awards are given by the Méliès International Festivals Federation (MIFF).
The award for Best Film went to ‘Cerdita‘ (dir. Carlota Pereda), and the Méliès Career Award, which recognizes the career of an outstanding name in the industry, went to Italian composer Claudio Simonetti, known for his iconic soundtracks with director Dario Argento for Italian ‘Giallo’ films of the 1970s.
