Nordic Film Music Days & HARPA Award 2018

This weekend the Nordic Film Music Days 2018 event will take place in Berlin (Germany), which encompasses composers from northern European countries such as Iceland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, during which the HARPA Nordic Film Music Composer Award will be presented.

 

The program for Sunday 18th of February, the main day of the event, will be as follows:

  • 10:00-10:15h – Musical performance by Christine Hals (NOR)
  • 10:15-11.00h – Game Music & Sound Design: Practices and Aesthetics, with Thomas Bärtschi (DEN)
  • 11:00-11:45h – The director/composer relationship with Bent Hamer (NOR) & John Erik Kaada (NOR), moderated by Thor Joachim Haga (NOR)
  • 11:45-12:00h – Break
  • 12:00-12.45h – How to be your own agent? Nordic composers usually have to self-represent, handle their own rights and work on multiple arenas beyond film music to sustain their livelihood. How do they manage? – Panel with composers Jean-Paul Wall (SWE), Hildur Gudnadottir (ICE) and Paanu Aaltio (FIN), moderated by Andrea Reuter (SWE/FIN)
  • 12:45-13:00h – A Multiple-Arena Case Study: Preserving Nordic Film Music History, by Jesper Hansen (DEN)
  • 13:00-14:00h – Lunch
  • 14:00-15:45h – Speed-meetings with ACE and EAVE producers
  • 16:00-17:00h – HARPA Award ceremony, with an introduction by Councellor for Cultural Affairs at the Swedish EmbassyNina Röhlcke and with the presence of Elín Rósa Sigurðardóttir, Deputy Ambassador, Icelandic Embassy
  • 17:00-19:00h – Afterparty

 

The nominees for the HARPA Nordic Film Composer Award 2018 are:

  • Daníel Bjarnason (Islandia) – ‘Under the Tree’
  • Henrik Skram (Noruega) – ‘Snøfall’
  • Miska and Juri Seppä (Finlandia) – ‘Tatu and Patu’ (recorded with the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra)
  • Kristian Selin Eidnes Andersen (Dinamarca) – ‘Sameblood’
  • Björn Olsson (Suecia) – ‘Jätten’
