Jecheon International Music & Film Festival (JIMFF) – 18th edition – Justin Hurwitz
The Jecheon International Music & Film Festival (JIMFF) will celebrate its 18th edition from 11-16 August 2022 in Jecheon (Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea), having composer Justin Hurwitz as a special guest, and holding the world’s first concert dedicated to his music.
The Jecheon Film Music Honorary Award 2022 will be presented to Justin Hurwitz, being previous recipients of this award from 2017 to 2019: Kenji Kawai, Tan Dun (read more), and Lim Giong.
The festival will hold the following film-music related events:
FILMS IN LIVE
The section ‘Films in Live’ was designed for the global exchanges of Korean film music. In a film concert, the audience can appreciate the orchestra’s live performance of the music in the film from beginning to end, while the movie is being screened. This type of concert is a combination of high-quality classical concerts and film screenings, which is already loved around the world.
In this year’s ‘Films in Live’, audiences will enjoy ‘E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial’ by the composer John Williams, held for the first time in Korea at the Jecheon Airfield Stage. The festival has decided to make the first Korean original film concerts to promote Korean film music to the world, and not one but two concerts: Leafie, a Hen into the Wild (Music by Lee Jisoo, Dir. Oh Sung-yoon, 2011) consisting of world-class orchestral music that is too precious to be drown, and One Fine Spring Day (Music by Cho Sungwoo, Dir. Hur Jinho, 2001) which already has many fans overseas.

SPECIAL CONCERT: JUSTIN HURWITZ CONCERT
Justin Hurwitz, the renowned musician who has joined the ranks of world-class music directors after winning Best Original Score and Best Original Song at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards and Academy Awards, will perform a special concert at the 18th Jecheon International Music & Film Festival. This special performance will be the World’s first concert to feature Justin Hurwitz’s original music in LA LA LAND, FIRST MAN, and WHIPLASH, accompanied by a live performance by the Seoul Grand Philharmonic Orchestra with Jazz Big Band & singers, to welcome the audience.

ONE SUMMER NIGHT
One Summer Night is JIMFF’s iconic music program, beloved by many visitors every year, with its open-air screenings and live music performances on beautiful summer nights. This year, One Summer Night will be held on the Airfield Stage that has been returned from the military to the citizens of Jecheon, rendering even greater significance. Starting with the star-studded lineup of Groovy Night on August 12th and ending with Mellow Night on August 15th, the diverse program will bring unforgettable memories of summer nights to the audience.
