Joe Hisaishi Weekend – Paris – May 2022

Friday 6, Saturday 7 & Sunday 8/5/2022 – 20:30h, 20:30h & 15h – Concert ‘Hisaishi Symphonique’

At the Grande salle Pierre Boulez – Philharmonie, performed by the Orchestre philharmonique de Strasbourg conducted by Joe Hisaishi, who will also play the piano, accompanied by soprano Alexandra Marcellier.

 

The program will be as follows:

• Joe Hisaishi – Symphonie n° 2
• INTERMISSION
• [ Woman ] (Woman, Ponyo sur la falaise, Les Aventuriers) pour piano, harpe, percussion et cordes
• Princesse Mononoké – (Suite symphonique, 2021)

Saturday, 7/5/2022 – 15:00h – Chamber concert ‘Quatuor Ardeo’

Joe Hisaishi is fascinated with the string quartet. His only film, Quartet (2001), examines its delicate human mechanics. Quatuor Ardeo presents its first foray into the genre, along with pieces by John Adams and Arvo Pärt.

 

Quatuor Ardeo are Carole Petitdemange, violin, Mi-Sa Yang, violin, Yuko Hara, viola, and Joëlle Martinez, cello.

 

The concert, performed at the Amphithéâtre – Cité de la musique, will have the following program:

• Arvo Pärt – Fratres
• John Adams – Pavane: She’s so Fine (extrait de John’s Book of Alleged Dances)
• John Adams – Strubble Crochet (extrait de John’s Book of Alleged Dances)
• Arvo Pärt – Summa
• Joe Hisaishi – Quatuor à cordes n° 1

Saturday, 7/5/2022 – 17:30h – Piano concert ‘Maki Namekawa’

Trained in both Japan and Europe, Maki Namekawa is a tireless performer of new musical works, cultivating affinities with particular aesthetics, such as that of Philip Glass. It is for her that he composed his First Piano Sonata.

 

The concert, performed at the Salle des concerts – Cité de la musique, will have the following program:

• Keith Jarrett – Ritual for piano solo (création française)
• Joe Hisaishi – Toccata (commande du Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Center for Arts, Science, and Technology (CAST), du Festival Ars Electronica et de la Philharmonie de Paris, création mondiale)
• INTERMISSION
• Philip Glass – Sonate pour piano (commande du Klavier-Festival Ruhr, du Festival Ars Electronica et de la Philharmonie de Paris, création française)
