FIMUCITÉ 12 – Dates and first concerts announced

Today, Tuesday, December 19th, FIMUCITÉ (Tenerife International Film Music Festival) has announced at a press conference the first details of its 12th edition, to be held in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain) from Friday, September 21st to Saturday, September 29th, 2018.


This new edition will be centered on the successful film genre dedicated to UFO sightings and alien invasions, and the first two festival concerts based on this theme have already been announced.


On Friday, September 28th – 8:00 p.m. at the Auditorium of Tenerife, the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra under the baton of the maestro Diego Navarro, the Tenerife Film Choir and the White Voices Choir of the Professional Conservatory of Music of Santa Cruz, will perform the full legendary John Williams’ score for “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” (1978, directed by Steven Spielberg) accompanied by the screening of the film.

On Saturday, September 29th – 7:00 p.m., the Closing Gala of FIMUCITÉ 12 will take place at the Auditorium of Tenerife, which will be named “The truth is out there” in homage to the popular television series “X-Files”. In this concert the scores of UFO sightings and extraterrestrial invasions genre will be addressed, with soundtracks from films like Mars Attacks (1996, music by Danny Elfman), Contact (1997, Alan Silvestri), Abyss (1989, Alan Silvestri), Starman (1989, Jack Nietzche), The Thing (1982, Ennio Morricone) or the TV series X-Files (1993-, Mark Snow).

People can buy a combined ticket for the two concerts at the box office, with a discount of € 5 on the total purchase and a fantastic gift consisting of the luxury edition of “Back in Time… 1985 At the movies” by Varèse Sarabande, which includes six CDs to enjoy the best film music of the year 1985 (This promotion is available only to the first 70 buyers).


The sixth edition of the competitive section FIMUCINEMA will be launched within the Festival, which awards the musical composition in the categories of feature film, documentary and short film.


As usual, a new edition of the FIMUCITÉ Film Scoring Academy will be held during the festival. This activity, free of charge, is part of the festival’s educational program and is aimed at students and professionals interested in specialized training.


Very soon, new contents of the rest of the concert schedule of the 12th edition of FIMUCITÉ will be announced, as well as the names of the guests and professionals to be honored.


As in previous occasions, the festival will be sponsored by the Tenerife Island Council, the Canary Islands Government, the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council and the La Laguna City Council.
